Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern your use of the website northstarxr.com and the software and services offered by SoD AS (Study of Directions), a company registered in Norway ("SoD AS", "we", "us"), including Northstar XR. When you use our services or buy a subscription, you are contracting with SoD AS.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or continuing to use our website, software or services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services. If you use the services on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation; individuals must be of legal age in their jurisdiction.

2. The service

Northstar XR is a software engine for extended reality (XR) applications, delivered as time-limited subscriptions and license keys tied to a headset or device. Each license may be bound to one device at a time.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information, keep it up to date, and keep your credentials and license keys confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys.

4. Licence and restrictions

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your selected plan and term. You must not reverse engineer, decompile, resell, redistribute, share license keys, or circumvent technical limits of the service.

5. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the service, including by:

• using it for any unlawful purpose or in breach of applicable regulations;
• fraud, spam or misrepresentation;
• infringing the intellectual property or other rights of others;
• interfering with security, including introducing malware, probing, scanning, scraping or attempting unauthorised access.

6. Intellectual property

SoD AS retains all rights, title and interest in the service and its intellectual property, including software, documentation, technology and branding. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in these Terms.

7. Payments, subscriptions and our reseller

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, taxes, renewals and cancellations are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.

8. Service level and warranties

We work to keep the service reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Northstar XR is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, SoD AS is not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages (such as loss of profits, data or goodwill), and our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury where such limitation is not permitted by law.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access, or deactivate license keys, for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may stop using the service at any time.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts, with Stavanger as the agreed venue, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
